Caring for Central Oregon

My nursing career began 24 years ago; in pediatric oncology and I have continued to enjoy every path the profession has provided ranging from gastroenterology to surgery and management to mental health. My vast experiences as a nurse working with patients, families and the community across various settings has shaped and influenced my approach to care.
I value the Code of Ethics for Nurses striving daily to treat each patient holistically with care and respect. My approach to individualized wellness is patient driven and goal orientated. I emphasize the exploration of multi faceted options in the search for balance; empowering and advocating for individuals. Whether starting out or continuing the path; resilience prevails with commitment and dedication to oneself.

Psychotherapy is a therapeutic practice that involves engaging with a trained mental health professional to explore and address emotional and psychological challenges. Through various techniques, such as talk therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, or mindfulness strategies, individuals can gain insight into their thoughts and behaviors, fostering personal growth and healing. This collaborative process not only helps individuals manage mental health issues but also promotes overall well-being and resilience in the face of life's challenges.

A psychiatric assessment is a comprehensive evaluation conducted by a mental health professional to understand an individual's mental health status and gather pertinent historical and contextual information. This assessment typically involves structured interviews, standardized questionnaires, and sometimes physical examinations to diagnose mental health conditions accurately. Through this process, clinicians are able to develop tailored treatment plans and support strategies that address the specific needs of the individual.
Psychiatric medication management involves the careful evaluation and prescription of medications to address mental health conditions, ensuring that each patient's unique needs are met. This process typically includes ongoing monitoring of the patient's response to medication, as well as adjustments to dosages or types of medication as necessary. A collaborative approach between the patient and healthcare provider is essential, fostering open communication to optimize treatment outcomes and enhance overall well-being.
